HAPPINESS…IS
A CHAT WITH THE BOSS
THE key to keeping staff motivated is to talk to them.
Workers also feel happier if their managers listen to their ideas and
they sit alongside a colleague they like, a poll revealed. Most of the
400 employees questioned for the survey believed being talked to is the
key to a happy workplace. However one in four firms made no effort to
keep workers motivated and 40 per cent would not know where to start,
the poll by consultants Chiomento and Personnel Today found.
'The good news for employers is that keeping staff happy can be as
simple as good table manners' said Sarah Chiumento, chef executive of
Chiumento. She added: 'The challenge is to communicate in a way that
keeps people interested in talking back.'
